Among the most sought-after and in-demand hops, the West Sixth Brewery showcases the coveted flavors of tropical fruit, citrus and pleasant herb botanicals in all their lupulin glory.
With the smooth honey and caramel flavors of malt greeting the tongue, the beer's sweeter tone is then layered upon by the bright floral and perfume character of fruity hops. Honeysuckle, fresh tropical fruit and vibrant citrus open up in mouthwatering aromas and supple taste.
Slowly fading sweetness allows for a steady rise of hop taste- blossoming with mango, apricot, passion fruit and all-things Hawaiian punch. Coupled with the tangy acidity from red grapefruit, tangerine and mild lemon, both sweet and tangy fruit work in perfect marriage all through the middle palate.
Turning to closure, the beer's smooth bitterness is mildly of pith and peel, edging toward a slight herbal and grassy taste. With a scant caramel linger, the fruity impressions take on a ripe and racy character even in its long-lasting bitter finish.
Perhaps slightly one-dimensional because of its sole focus on the single hop variety, the mid-amber beer doesn't bow to low complexity all that much as this hop variety takes the IPA in several directions at once- fully equipped with bright aroma, juicy flavor and smooth trailing bitterness.
