Enjoyed from the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate. This nice little variation of the
original Transylvania Tripel pours a nice golden color with a quickly dissipating head of
white foam that subsides to a thin ring, thin wispy layer, and shows very subtle light lacing.
Nose of light breaded malts, phenol yeast notes, subtle coriander, Belgian candy sugars,
and light grape notes. Flavors follow the nose with candy sugars tossed amongst breaded
malts, light banana and subtle coriander with a touch of grape on the rear which is most
evident in the dry finish. Excellent mouth feel, mild carbonation, medium light mouth feel;
and a lightly sweet dry finish.

Overall, a solid little ale that evidently has been "retired" but is still rearing it's head from time to
time.

Cheers

Lots of brandy character, and a significant amount of oak from the barrel. It's on the sweet side. The base beer was overwhelmed. Apple was more subtle than expected, but it still beat out the majority of ester quality.

This is the Transylvania Tripel aged in brandy barrels.

The nose holds many yeast like aromas of bubblegum, earth tones, Apple, pear, distilled alcohols, bready malt and banana.

The problem I've always had with Tripels is the overwhelming clove flavor imparted by the yeast but there is none of that in this. Instead it's a fruity start of banana, Apple and pear with a malty cracker middle. There's a bit of bubblegum sweetness through out and it finishes with a distilled white grape. Fairly complex and plenty delicious it drank surprisingly light and crisp for 11 percent.
