As lager dips their toe into the dark, its color and taste deepens, however its drinkability and sessionable quality sees only a slim uptick. So to deliver us from the banal, West Sixth brewers gives us this decidedly toasty taste.
Decidedly Dunkel pours the expected brown with dark golden margins. Its dainty white head retains much of its toasty, chocolaty, nutty aromas as the nose falls on cream, caramel and faint honey. Its malty sweet taste balanced with milld char, coffee and cocoa just as the taste takes hold.
Its moderately rich taste stops shy of boistrous sweetness as caramel and honey seep into the tongue. Nutty, toasty flavors align with spent coffee ground and baker's chocolate before the herbal hops contribute their own woodsy spices to the blend.
Remarkably light and mildly textured, the dark lager closes on a dry and thin note- a far cry from its soft nougat-like taste and texture in the middle. A minty herbal nature rounds out the finish with hints of vanilla and pepper.

This is one dark looking beer. Hard to tell if it's murky or cloudy, as it's just dark! More toasty malt forward than complex yeast. Enjoyably beer, but not the greatest example of the style.
