Roasted and deeply caramelized, the Man-O-Schwarz German-style dark lager rummages the Caribbean cellars for rum barrels. The nice long slumber that the beer undertakes comes out the other side smoother, spicier and deep in complexity.
Just above its dark crimson appearance, seemingly black through the center, lurks the rich toffee and caramel-sweet nose. With hints of char, coffee and cocoa, the beer dives into taste with the rich succulence of wurther's original caramels and the natural sugar and spice that rum brings.
And over the course of the middle palate, its caramelized taste turns nutty, toffee-like and softly of molasses- resulting in the savory flavors more commonly found in cracker-jacks candy. But with the robust taste of charred toast, baker's chocolate, walnut oil and burnt sugar, the full and light creaminess of the session reaches its apex.
Trailing with rich and decadent sweetness, the roasted balance is cast aside and its soft spiciness is slimly from hops and more so from the spicy sweetness from rum. The barrel's caramel, vanilla, tannin and rich hints of port and sherry chase into a long and soft umami savory linger.
