Built just tough enough to get the hop-heads through the cooler months, West Sixth's rye pale ale also welcomes spring with a ripe tropical fruit blend and a grain sweetness with a little grit.
Gorges Rye Pale Ale pours hazy gold that leans slightly toward the straw-hued side. Its light and pillowy swath of foam carries a moderate but balanced scent of fresh baked whole grain bread and that of citrus and tropical perfumes. Its taste is grainy-sweet with a firm husken taste that comes across peppery and cereal-like.
As the malt slowly recedes and the hops begin to rise, its floral taste turns spicy and bitter with the light tantalizing taste of white grapefruit, under-ripened orange, light lemon, passionfruit, kiwi and dried pineapple. Grassy, spicy and moderately resinous, the finish trends bitter but not without the husken support of rye bread.
Medium-light in its body, the beer's lighter, drier demeanor is upheld with a creamy carbonation with a slight carbonic bite that crispens the taste and offers a mild mineral sensation. The beer's light overall fare offers a unique delicacy to pair with light seafood options.
