West Sixth Brewing Company/Country Boy Brewing - Country Western Volume IV. 8.5% ABV. 3oz sample pour in mini mug.
Look: Burnt orange and golden body.
Smell: Lots of juicy tropical and citrus fruits, earthy hops, and sweet malts.
Feel: Surprising medium bodied and carbonated, but good drinkability.
Taste: Lots of tropical and citrus fruits, bitter hops, and sweet malts and grain.
Overall: Had at the Firkin Fest 2016 in Ashland, KY. I think this was my overall favorite at the fest, I had about 4 or 5 pours of it. Great all round beer.

With Lexington's Craft Beer Week 2016 in full swing, one of the most anticipated highlights of the week is the stellar collaboration series among West Sixth and Country Boy brewing companies. This year's pineapple Imperial IPA is sure to be a hit!
Volume IV pours a deep honey gold with ribbons of burnt orange hues tethering through the mild haze. As a frothy eggshell foam begins to mount, the billowing aromas gravitate toward the nose with their tropical, juicy caramel malt, citrus, grass and toffee-laden scents. The gentle rolling sweetness glides over the tongue with caramel, honey and the slight savories of butterscotch.
As a graham-cracker and granola flavor relaxes on the middle palate, the fruit comes out to play- a shift toward tropical blends first pack a wallop of pineapple, passionfruit, apricot and papaya. Not to be outdone, the natural citrusy hop flavors of pink grapefruit, tangerine, and light lemon join the fray as complementing notes of peach and honeydew reside closely behind. Balanced late, the malt and hops are neck 'n neck heading for the far turn and heading for home.
Full-bodied but understated in its density, the ale's residual granola finish ensures support for the intensifying bitterness from hops, never allowing their bitter pine, grass or pithy bitterness to duel the finish alone. A return of butterscotchy citrus coats the throat and buffers from the pang of alcohol through a long and sweet resin aftertaste.
