With a full and fruity display of Amarillo hops, the West Sixth team plays single fiddle to no one. But fifth fiddle- perhaps.
Fifth Fiddle Amarillo IPA is a golden amber ale, hazy and capped with a short white pillow of froth. Its aromas lead with a bright and candied orange perfume. Tropical and herbaceous the scent leads to a soft caramel and honey sweetness with the breadiness of graham cracker.
As the flavors unfold on the middle palate, its bright and floral bouquet trends juicy with tangerine, pineapple, mango and guava. As the sweetness fades, the hops quickly grow to dominate the finish; but do so a grassy, sprucy and herbal hemp-like bitterness.
Drying, bitter and crisp, the beer's fruity taste trends decidedly bitter with the rinds, peels and piths of tropical and citrus fruit. Medium bodied and trailing with the light peppery character of curacao liquor, the beer closes with the notion of being boldly of candied oranges.
