Single hop beers can often become a one trick pony. But when you've got Galaxy hops at the helm, it's a pretty good trick! West Sixth rolls out a simple IPA but one that uses one of the most coveted hops on the planet for a melody of tropical fruit, citrus and grassiness.
Galaxy Shines Bright pours a light amber, bright golden color and with a light unfiltered haze. Its airy and softly textured froth swirls with those tangy tropical fruit notes along with herbal, citrusy perfume. Light caramel and graham cracker plays off of lightly toasted grain sweetness.
As the sweetness fades, the middle palate becomes an education about Galaxy hops. Tropical flavors rise first on the backs of passionfruit and mango. A lemony, tangy unripe orange follows suit before trailing into an herbal, verbena, sassafras melange. Tea-like and bitter, the spicy hops finish with a fragrant woodsiness and a hint of juniper and spruce.
Medium light in body, the beer weakens slightly to offer a softness and refreshing property to the palate. Dryness late brings a medium fruit linger and a long bitterness that resonates deep in finish. Just enough sweetness persists to give the fruit impressions a firmer and more identifiable character.

Hoppy hoppy hoppy. Simple yet slightly complex. Very tasty hop flavors and lots of aroma. Better alternative to the ws IPA, imo. Very glad I tried. Will buy again.
