On the backs of the most tropical flavored hops on the market, the West Sixth team takes a flavor vacation and they're taking your tastebuds with them. Such a tropical spin on the IPA will have you hearing steel drums in no time flat.
Coming to the table with a standard burnt orange haze, the frothy Ken-tiki leads with a juicy scent of tropical fruits and a backnote of citrus and herbs for a succulent and slightly tart aroma. Gentle sweetness glosses over the tongue with a light agave, caramel and granola for a sweet malt taste early on the palate.
Bold with a tropical fruit presence, the middle palate opens up to a boost of passionfruit, guava, pineapple, coconut and mango before allowing a citrus undertow of orange, grapefruit and lime to balance the sweetness with a racy citrus acidity and a tangy fruit flavor. A moderately bitter hop bite charges onto the late palate with an fresh spruce, herbal bitterness of green tea, gin and cedar.
Sassafras, verbena and a fresh peppery pine resins finish the flavor medley before a spice of botanical gin continues to give life to the beer's final frame along with a medium long linger of bitter hemp and herb.
