MAPLE! This Doppelbock provides a brilliant canvas for showcasing this unique barrel that had a past life of aging bourbon and then maple syrup. It’s intense malt forward profile is layered with notes of warming dark fruit and caramel on top of maple and charred oak lent from the barrel. Pairs well with cool Kentucky Autumn nights.

750 ml bottle, bottle #74/192. Says Louisville exclusive on the label, but I bought this at the West Sixth brewery in Lexington on 11/19/21. Served in a chalice, the beer pours a murky brownish/red color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice and malty, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, toasted malt, brown sugar, maple and some earthiness. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some dark fruit, oak, and toffee flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and a bit rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this barrel aged doppelbock, wish I would have bought more when I was there! Certainly worth trying if you're able to!
