With their fuzzy IPA packing fields of hops, West Sixth's imperial fuzzy beer is a monster.
Big Fuzzy Monster gets going with a pale, hazy and golden appearance before capping off with a creamy white fluff. As an array of tropical, citrus and stone fruit fill the nose, its radiant perfume also shows scents of dank herb with citronella. Smooth sweetness coats the tongue with the first sip, as the impressions of honey, cereal and poundcake all pull from the malts
A quick shift away from the grain sweetness and toward the dominance of hops is fruity and juicy, developing into a radiant taste of mango, mandarin, lime, peach and apricot. The tropical accented fruit cocktail seems nearly tangy and sherbet-like as the malt retains starchy and creamy sweetness. Trending modestly bitter, the late flavors add an herbal and botanical bite of fresh spruce, spicy grasses and an overall green tea balance.
Medium-full in body and finishing plush and malty-dry, the beer's final impressions are of gin botanicals, hemp, tea and tropical fruit pulp in a medium afterglow of fruit and florals.
