Satisfying every time. At 5.5% it's a little strong for a session, but I always wish I had another pitcher waiting!

Welcome, at the outset of New Beers from @jkblr Sunday (Week 755), to the beginning of a day of madness. I have a buncha beers CANtesy of one of my only current traders, @jkblr & he has asked that I begin getting at them. It wasn't much of an ask since he keeps sending me beers from one of my current fave breweries, but first, a prelude to kick the day off. It is not too much of a reveal that everything is in furtherance of The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "Danke!"; "Prost!"; "Cheers!"; "Crafted by West Sixth Brewing Lexington, KY Inspired By Our Fish Growin' Neighbors, FoodChain"; "Seasonal Release Lager"; "Oktoberfest".
I finished my meager breakfast & now, it was time for a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting mug, ya mug! I was greeted by the formation of three-plus fingers (!) of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention. Color was Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose held a restrained maltiness, sweetish but with a grassy, hay-like hoppiness. I CANnot express how happy this makes me! I do not (generally) like sweets & I have had some malt bombs in the form of German Märzens / Oktoberfests in the past. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, wicked big for any Lager! Taste was just the way I like them - slightly sweet with a honey-drizzled nuttiness. Mmm. I am right chuffed that I did not pick up pretzels while grocery shopping on Friday! They would have been perfect with this beer. Finish fell somewhere in the Twilight Zone between semi-sweet & semi-dry. I dunno, you tell me. I CAN't wait to move on to the next buncha goodies. YMMV.

On draft at my local grocery store growler bar in a pint glass. Deep rich orange color with a shallow white head and medium lacing. Carmel and toasted bread smell. The feel is a bit thinner than I expected with good carbonation. The taste is fairly typical of the American Octoberfest varieties I’ve had except there is a bit more of a hoppy finish. Overall a solid beer I would definitely drink again, especially for $2.50 a pint at the Kroger growler bar.

12oz canned 9/1/17 poured into a.5L krug at fridge temp 5% ABV (per W6 website). The beer pours bright orange amber in color with off white head. The head recedes to a thin film that caps the beer wholly. The aroma is faint caramel and yeast. The taste is bready caramel with a firm spicy hop slightly bitter finish. The website lists Hallertauer hops and Munich, caramel & melanoidin malts and their presence in the beer is obvious. Mouthfeel is thin bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. Overall, very good for an American Craft Brewer trying to emulate a traditional Marzen. The lagering is not perfect and the depth of flavor isn't there, but it's still pretty good. They may have used a little extra hops to cover some off flavors from a short lagering time. Not nearly as distracting as some I've had this year. I would have liked to pick this up 6 weeks ago fresh.

Pours a deep rich orange color with a frothy off white head that stays for quite a while, abundant carbonation as well. Smell is rich and aromatic with that Oktoberfest scent I've come to expect. Initial taste is creamy and flavorful, ever so slightly boozy, not hoppy at all. Finishes slightly dry. The Feel is silky smooth. Overall, The more I drink this brew the more I wish I had more, it is very easy drinking but still flavorful and smooth.
