The appearance was a dark red almost brown color with a sturdy finger’s worth of white foamy head that slid off at a good pace. Some stringy lace. The aroma had some toasty sweetness, light nuts, subtle caramel malt backbone with a slight earthy hoppiness and light zesty orange spice. The flavor did a decent job of blending the prior mentioned aromas to boot as it stabilized a nice aftertaste of the toast, nuts, caramel malts and orange spice. Not much of a finish, but seemed somewhat earthy with the caramel tones. The feel was just a tad under medium bodied with a slightly creamy sort of lingering touch along my tongue. Orange spice seemed barely there for any abrasiveness. Overall, pretty nice brown ale that I wouldn’t mind having again if I could get it.
