Pours almost amber in color. Nice aromas. Good mouthfeel. Nice bitterness. Not as big and juicy as most of the west coast style. Solid malt backbone holds this all together. Finishes very dry.

Picked up a 6 pack at the local Fareway grocery in Ames. The label indicates BVB IPA is "a traditional west-coast IPA". They are right. It pours, looks, smells and tastes like a west-coast IPA. Like many enthusiasts, IPA is my favorite style and I have a hard time passing it up when I see a new one. This is as good as any I've had, and far better than most. Pours a bit darker than some, kicks up a thick, long lasting head with copious lacing, plenty of citrus hop character and aroma, good mouth feel and tastes great. It is not less filling. I'm not sure how widely Boon Valley products are distributed but they have my attention. Their website says this IPA is one of their mainstays so I'm surprised it hasn't been added before now. A bit pricey perhaps but now more than many other premium IPA's.
