This Slater's 50/50 is located in a trendy Liberty Station area north of the airport. It's a multi-use district with town homes, eateries, and other shops that was once a military base.

I found this location to be similar to other 50/50's I've visited. Large tap list, good food, and friendly staff.

I had a glass of Alpine HFS. Enjoyed my visit!

Hands down better beer, food and atmosphere than any Yard house in CA.

Have been here a few times and never had a bad experience. Most recently, came for the Goose Island tapping. The service was pretty good, as was the food. No complaints.

Located in a refurbished military depot of some kind, this place is kind of out of the way, but it is a really interesting experience. This is the most extreme example of the recent trend of boutique burgers and beer that I have experienced. They have a very nice beer selection, heavy on the locally brewed stuff (as it should be in San Diego). Service was good even though the place was crowded and the beer was fresh.

While the beer selection made me happy, it was really and truly overshadowed by the food. You order your burger by filling out a sushi menu like card detailing size, bun, meat, and topping selections. The specialty is a burger patty made from half beef and half ground bacon. Yeah. Toppings are diverse and interesting and it is a good idea to order your food before the beer kicks in or you may make some poor decisions and get yourself in trouble (one of my friends got a 1#, habenero burger, with hot sauce and jalapenos on it... he survived, barely). They have bacon milkshakes too.

If you are into bacon you owe it to yourself to give this place a try. I'm glad I did, but I don't know if I could do it again.

There's something about a tasty burger and a lot of different draft beers in one place that inspired me to show some out-of-towners....heck, they were from Brazil! Well, this is the real America in one spot, I thought. Beer, burgers, military bases nearby, how would they respond? As for me, I already knew of the awesomeness of the 50/50, but now with 111 taps! And so it began....and so it, where is the place? At the listed address is a Mexican joint and different offices. I went into the Mexican restaurant to ask where "Oh, Slater's 50/50? It's on the other side of the building."

Indeed, it was on the other side of the building. Approach the enterence, witness a large burger statue with a knife running down its middle. A small bar to the left with ten different taps of local San Diego beer. Going inside, the bar sits right in front of you. Lots of lots of different taps in one horizontal row. Tens upon tens of different TV's around the restaurant. Lots of different memorabilia and photos on the walls. The dining area seemed a little smaller than the Huntington or Anaheim locations, but had a lot of tables. It did feel we had less intimacy from the rest of the restaurant as the two other locations.

Very friendly waitress we had, and a great tap list, but I'd like to see some coordinating prices too, not just the ABV and style of beer. Flights of beer (you pick any 4) run for $10. Great burger, as usual (vampire dip on a half beef/half bacon burger, delish!). And I finally had the courage to go for the bacon milkshake at the end, and that is something everybody needs to do at least once. My Brazilian friends were struck with awe of the place's bacon fetish, quality of food, and something else. Was it the TV in the bathroom? No.

It was the beer list. One of them is a beer geek like me, and for both of us it took some time to decide what we wanted. There's a lot of San Diego area beer here, represented by Stone, Alesmith, Port, Manzanita, Ballast Point, Green Flash, and let's not forget those from outside the region (Rogue, Avery, Allagash, La Chouffe, and even some kegs of Founders). There were even "special" beers here, from barrel-aged Navigator, to Stone Smoked Porter with vanilla. The four beers our group tasted were delicious, not served to cold, and offered a few different shapes of glassware (but just shaker pint and narrow 22). The beers are a little pricier, however I was surprised how well the beers were presented at this location.

The beer selection alone warrants a stop, but to be combined with awesome food is just icing and sprinkles to an already tasty cake.
