A bomber from Backcountry, I think a rotating release.
Pours a very nice looking amber/polished walnut. Nice foam, a bit spotty. Poured very cold
Aroma is semi sweet. Some apple orchard and caramel malt. Some yeasty spice and light hops
Flavor is spot on for dubbels, yet a bit nuanced and light. Maybe light isn't the best word. I'd like to see more overripe apple and sweetness, but the flavor itself is nice. Some dubbels go over the top, though, with too much sweetness. This one does not do that. A bit dry, which to me makes it drinkable. Caramel and malt come through, with some mild spiciness.

A low foam in the big New Belgium snifter. Color is a dark orange amber. Moderate amount of carbonation. Some nice lacing with each new pour. The aroma is unusual, like mown hay, fresh drywall, and boiled shrimp.
This has an interesting meaty flavor. The classic sweet to dry progression of the Belgian yeast. The mouthfeel is more watery than usual for a Dubbel, but it's quite pleasant here. A more refreshing rather than sticky version. Some bright fruity notes, with rhubarb and cider. A touch of candy.
Overall, a very drinkable but seemingly strong brew. Another out-of-the-way Colorado brewery that is making good stuff. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Mayfair Liquors in Denver.
