Bomber labeled "Single Release Fall 2015" and dated "2.16.16," opened in early July 2016. Once poured, it is surprisingly opaque and deep brown. Pours with an inch of foamy head that settles into a seemingly permanent layer of tiny bubbles. A bit of lacing around glass too. The smell carries tons of caramel and malt and just a hint of oak in the background. Also something sort of like cherries. It smells pretty good, but I wouldn't have guessed it was bourbon-barrel-aged from the smell. The taste also has plenty of caramel and malt, as expected from an English-style barleywine. Some vanilla. Hint of oak. Not much bourbon character. The feel is silky smooth, but the carbonation is a tad lacking. Overall, it's a solid BA barleywine that may be showcasing unique Colorado character. I hadn't heard of this brewery before, but I would like to try more of their beers.

22 oz. Bomber
Red Wax/Capped
Single Release
Fall 2015
Bottled On: 2-16-16

Poured into a chalice a very nice slightly cloudy grapey/brownish color, very nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small creamy/fizzy off-white head, which leaves a nice medium size island, and some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, very nice touch of bourbon, oaky, some vanilla. The taste is very nice malty, pretty nice touch of bourbon, nice oakyness, nice touch of vanilla. Full body, ABV hidden pretty well, the finish has a nice sweetness/dryness, definitely a sipper though. Overall, this one is surprising me, being my first from this brewery. Pretty Good Intro. Recommended.
