Number 1 of 8 in By The Horns deadly sins range.
An export stout oak aged in Islay whisky barrels.
The beer is jet black, producing next to no head. What head there is, is very bubbly.
The smell is strong freshly ground roasted coffee, with a solvent like background.
There is a definite smoky peaty taste from the Islay whisky barrels. After the initial expected peat flavours, dried fruits come through raisins, apricot and orange.
Mouthfeel is quite light with next to no carbonation.
Overall, definitely worth a try, but in my opinion seems a bit gimmicky not something I would buy again.
