Coffee and dried fruit. Syrupy. Licorice type medicinal flavor as it warms, like red bull.

Draft. I do not care much for Rocket Fuel by the same brewery. Yes, it's a porter vs. this stout, but still, all things being equal, this comes much closer to meeting expectations. I liked this beer quite a bit. Good coffee flavor, consistent throughout the drink but not overpowering. Smooth and tasty, well balanced. I would have this again without hesitation. It could use a bit more body, a bit creamier mouth feel, but even as is, a good drinker on its own or with a meal.

Got this draft from a local restaurant. Excellent stout from Houston. 8% alcohol and strong tastes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee. It only lacks in texture. For something called a dream shake I imagined it would be a bit creamier. I look forward to trying this again, though.

On tap at Southern Goods in Houston, TX
A: Pours a nearly dark/opaque black color. A bit of ruby around the edges. A two finger dark beige head forms with good retention and lace.
S: Big roasted malt up front, and is the entire show. Chocolate and coffee. Simple, to the point, and very good nose for a stout.
T: Like the nose, the roasted malt is the dominate character. Which gives the requisite chocolate and coffee flavors. After an initial dryness from the roasted malts, this finishes almost sugary sweet. Again, simple, but on point and very enjoyable.
M/O: A medium to full body. Well carbonated, crisp and smooth at the same time. Starts of dry, but finishes sweet. Easy to drink, even considering the higher ABV for a regular stout. This boarders on imperial stout territory, but still very enjoyable and something I can finish with relative ease.
Along with Rocket Fuel, this is easily among the best that 8th Wonder has done. With the ABV, this is stuck in the middle of a regular stout and an imperial. Though all the style points are there, and everything is well balanced and overall well made. Would very much recommend.
