Handsome brownish red color with an exemplary foam in the Crooked Line tulip. Lots of creamy froth and lacing and ample spritziness of the tongue. Pleasant Bourbon nose with a cedar aroma.
Rather hoppy, sweet, and complicated. The boozy fruitiness is quite nice. Really sexy taste of spicy hot citrus and malt. Quite bitter in the aftertaste along with that barrel taste and even some cherries. An elegant mixed drink of a brew.
I have a bottle of the Widmer Gentleman's Club with the same cherries and orange, and that one is a little more coarse and intense. The Rough Draft version is just sweet enough but nicely balanced with the hot alcohol and the dark woody, fruity mix. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Best Damn Beer Store.
