June 12th, 2015 - The aroma on this beer portends a dessert type flavor, because it is a dead ringer for a root beer float. I haven't enjoyed one of those since I was in middle school but the aroma was immediately recognizable. The flavor has some of this as well, but it's less sweet and more excessively malty. So much so that I don't finish the taster.

Seriously black brew with a bare wisp of foam in the pint shaker. This has a spicy note like some of the other Christmassy spiced stouts that show up this season. Oddly sweet start but then it turns dry. Grainy and bitterish finish. Seems to be all about the bitter cocoa taste. Plus a chalky mouthfeel. On tap at Farmer's Bottega in Mission Hills.
