its funny all the beer is so low alcohol over here that they can not wrongly call this an imperial at just 7% abv. fresh and well made but also a little safe and a little old school by modern american standards. this is reddish colored from the tap under a couple of inches of white head, copper maybe, but darker than is trendy right now for sure. the aroma is grapefruit zest and herbal bitterness to me, some oils swirling as well, and a hearty toasted grain base thats more nutty than sweet in the nose. the flavor is nicely balanced, almost like a strong pale ale, as there is a lot of grain all the way through this and not just in the background but right there with the hops flavoring it, subtle bread crusts and honey and cereal to it, bran muffin, and then the hops, which hit on pine and gin botanicals more now but still pack some citrus and some bitterness, sage, juniper, citrus pith. its fresh and the ferment is clean, very little from the yeast here at all and it finishes dry for being as malt forward as it is, no sign of the alcohol either. solid stuff here, not amazing, but one of the more familiar hoppy types we encountered in spain.
