If you can get past the fact that this beer looks like what a bar rag might have wrung out after a Saturday night mixed with dirt, the taste is not really offensive. But it's really hard to get past the look.

It's an average IPA, the squid ink gives it a real muddy color. Not sure I'd buy again.

Deep Purple body. White. Purplish head. Very odd looking. Earthy hop aroma. Slight fruit smell. With the first sip, I get hoppy bitterness followed by sweet slightly earth almost brownie taste. Interesting.

Pours black with a light grey head. Trailing lace slides down the glass.

The smell is of a leafy, citric, resin hop aroma, though relatively mild.

The taste is very salty - almost like someone dropped a small block of salt in it. I can taste raw, leafy hop bitterness and piney resin.

The feel is a bit slimy - as I haven't been too impressed so far it gets a bit difficult to make a judgment on the feel alone, but it does have a fuller body to it. Not too impressed with the texture itself.

Not too impressed with the black residue left at the bottom of the glass either. Reminds me of small coffee grinds.

I do want to give them credit for trying something different. But, I don't know that adding squid ink to what seems like it would have been a pretty solid IPA did anything to make it different and better. Just different.
