SPACE COAST is an installment in a series of variations on our East Coast-style Pale Ale, Fresh Coast. Each variant highlights a different aspect of Fresh Coast's flavor, taking it in new (and often intense) directions. Space Coast takes the beer's bright and juicy characteristics and sends them into overdrive. We use galaxy hops to inject notes of citrus and passionfruit, and a touch of lactose to round out the hop flavors while highlighting their natural sweetness.

Poured from a 16-ounce can into an oversized wine glass. Hazy deep yellow in color, with an orange-ish highlight here and there. Huge soap-sudsy white head that hangs around a while before settling to a decent cap, leaving lots of thick lacing. Quite pretty in the glass. Big aromas and flavors of tropical fruit and citrus, with a little zesty bitterness on the palate. Medium bodied, with a crisp and slightly astringent finish. With its good mouthfeel and understated sweetness, this is pleasantly drinkable. Recommended.

Moderately dense finger of white foam, credible retention, same for the thick lacing streaks. The liquid is hazy but not opaque, dull yellowish orange, very sluggish if large bubbles. Beautifully coquettish nose of floral dew, orange blossom, tangerine zest with just the right amount of both malt and dankness to balance things out, guava, mango, kiwi fruit scents. Light-bodied, somewhat dry, starts out with a creamy mouthfeel and tightens up by the end, carbonation feels more fizzy than steady. Broader array of white grapefruit, pink grapefruit to blood orange citrus, not sweet but not that sour either. Freshly green rather than dankly resinous, it’s clear that a balanced and openly knit final product was the goal. Light pie crust to challah bread notes. Pineapple, kiwi, passion fruit to mango, nectarine, fruity without seeming “fruit driven.” Lots of retronasal florality. A smooth and entirely drinkable brew. (Canned 7/24/19)

Poured 16oz can into snifter. The beer color is a hazy golden orange. Produced a nice 2.5 finger white head, some nice lacing. Big aroma of pineapple, mango, and other tropical fruits, some citrus of grapefruit and orange. The tropical and citrus hit on the flavor with subtle pineapple, guava and orange. The malts are very light and and the slightest bready notes to compliment the hops. Excellent carbonation with some bitterness lingers on the tongue and finishes dry. Nice job with this easy to drink and flavorful.

16oz can, snifter glass. Pours a cloudy darker yellow, copper-ish body, one finger white head, lots of lacing. Smell is grapefruit, touch of spice, oranges, a touch of zesty lemon, light caramel. Flavour follows, although it's a bit sweeter than the smell promises. Sweeter orange juices, a bit of tropical fruit, light lemon, touch of floral notes, backed up by a fair bit of sweet lactose and grainy malt. It's good, very easy to drink with a medium, creamy mouthfeel from the lactose. It's solid, fairly spicy and herbal on the finish, but not astringently so.
