We stumbled on the experimental "Summer Hop" from Australia a few months ago and have been waiting to use it in the right beer. Now that Summer is in full swing, we couldn't think of a better time to break out a new Fresh Coast variant featuring this hop. When combined with the tropical Citra hop, this beer is brimming with rich apricot, melon, and peach notes.

Hazy peach colored with a half-finger of near-white head. Decent lacing.
Melon, peach, tropical fruit and tea in the nose. A little butter.
The taste is very similar. Earthy bitterness with some light fruit flavors.
Light bodied with nice zippy carbonation.
It’s certainly easy drinking. Higher ABV than I would have guessed.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA, 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 4/30/2019. Pours fairly hazy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, mango, honeydew melon, guava, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.3%. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Awesome Citra/Summer profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice clean pale/wheat malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering. Was expecting it to be softer for a "juicy pale ale", but still really impressive and well made for the style.
