We took our rich, complex Belgian-style quad that we brew with figs and molasses, and gave it flavors worthy of the beginning of fall. The warm, comforting notes of pumpkin spice, with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and clove are the perfect compliment to the sweet and spicy notes that are picked up from the rye barrels this beer ages in.

Poured from a 12oz can into a tulip. Very similar to the excellent regular Veneration from 3 Sheeps, but the spices add a bitter tree-bark quality to the beer that I think is to its detriment. Just drink the regular Veneration, IMO.

Murky squash-hued amber with a thin tan head that quickly settles into a wisp and crown and leaves moderate lacing.
Big fig, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg in the nose, with some vanilla behind.
Flashes of the same fig and vanilla in the taste, with some nice molasses undertones, but overloaded with spices, which, combined with stale, cardboard hops, leave a woody, bark-like finish.
Perfectly reasonable mouthfeel. Medium bodied with a little fizz.
When I read no real pumpkin was involved with this beer, I was prepared to like it, but the PSL addition stomps all over the phenomenal base. I appreciate the opportunity to try it, but not my jam.

The fact that I normally hate pumpkin spice and yet enjoyed this beer is a testament to the brewers at 3 Sheeps. The spice is present, but light and in the background. The genius decision was the fig and molasses addition that paired so well with the spice and rye barrel. ABV well masked.

Dark brown and fairly cloudy body; decent light khaki colored head. Outstanding fresh pumpkin aroma with brown sugar suggestions; pumpkin pie. Very nice pumpkin flavor; malty and boozy with a fine overall pumpkin attitude. Medium-heavy body; silky with a nice boozy warmth; nice residual sugar texture.
Ah, a barrel-aged pumpkin beer done well.
Pouring temperature: 43.9 ℉; canning info: 08/31/22
