Dense two finger head with an orange creamsicle coloration, retention is excellent and the lacing forms extended streaks. The liquid is a gauzy copper color, noticeably dark, the miniscule bubbles seem to wander aimlessly. Very malty nose with cocoa, caramel to butterscotch notes before candied orange peel, pine sap, concentrated pineapple, mango to guava fruit scents, you can almost feel it gluing itself to your nostrils. Full-bodied, here the carbonation able to struggle and shave off some of the excess flesh. As in the nose no real herbaceous element, more unprocessed rye and dried grasses. The orange marmalade base blossoms into pink grapefruit and even a touch of lime. Grippy peach, apricot, guava to pineapple fruit, this provides whatever bite it has. Caramel, milk chocolate and toffee adhere it all together. Finishes with tar, charcoal and black tea leaf accents. If you don’t mind the sheer heaviness of it, there’s ample flavor and good follow-through with just enough bitter tackiness to remind you it’s an IPA.

This is certianly an ipa. Smelled like an ipa, tasted like an ipa. If you like ipa you might like this but if you want any subtle undertones of anything look else where. Tasted the same from start to finish.

Pours a slightly hazy copper/reddish color. Moderate head with persistent lacing.
Smell is an excellent blend of sweet tropical fruit and citrus.
Taste starts off sweet malt followed by hint of citrus and a fair amount of pine.
Smoothly blended flavors, very good.

Draught into the curvy 3-Sheeps Willybecher-type pint glass.
Pours a slightly hazy, golden, copper tone. Thin head, good lacing.
The richness of the aromas is what struck me with my first pour. Herbs, malts, juicy fruits... close your eyes. It's a dream.
Taste is more pine-resin, malts, caramel, some citrus in the background. Robust, well-rounded, true IPA bitterness.
My 3rd pint... 3 sheets to the wind...
Time for me to wind up:

Clear light copper/gold pour with a small white head. Big earthy and piney aroma. Taste has a strong bitterness with pine, citrus and resin flavors standing out initially. Also has a decent amount of bread and caramel malt flavors. Finishes with a long lingering hop flavor.

Good tasting IPA. The hoppy smell and anticipation led to an underwhelming taste overall. Columbus, cascade and zythos hops is a fairly rare combination. At the higher ABV, would like something more memorable. Bottled from Total in MKE.

Pours a clear, maize color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and good lacing. Smells of earthiness, grass, sweet malt, alcohol, spicy hops, and a hint of pine. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. There is also a strong bitterness. Tastes of earthiness, grass, sweet malt, alcohol, spicy hops, and a hint of pine. Overall, too bitter, too grassy, and too carbonated.

Beautiful hazy orange color. Aroma is pretty indistinct. Taste is fairly malty and sweet with a strong hop bite in the finish. This is not a standard IPA but it is a tasty, well-made beer.

This is a really good drinkable beer, it has a nice deep orange color, nice white head, not too overpowering on the nose. It left a little lacing on the tulip glass. Overall a good beer for the style.

1/24...pours a darker copper color, bordering on amber. White foam lid and with a ring. Bready, nutty, light pine nose. Funky citrus bitter, light sweet malt and a pointed knife-edge bitter close. Some breads, toffee, but nothing can quite temper that bitter enough.

Faint cloudiness gives way to a reddish amber appearance topped off with a one finger white head. Lacing is generous from top to bottom. Smell is rather muted - some herbal earthiness, faint pine and bready malt. Taste is unfortunately muted too - there just isn't much here other than piney hops and pale malts. Feel is what you'd expect for an IPA - carbonation is low to moderate. Kind of a meh beer for me - there are a lot more locally available, flavorful IPAs I'd reach for before I'd consider buying this beer again.

Not your regular IPA and that's good. A rich, foamy pour of slightly cloudy amber. Looks bottle fermented and even foamed a little out of the bottle when opened. A definite malted tasted and smell overlaid with a nice shot of hops. Slightly sweet, so this might not appeal to everyone. Good carbonation and a lingering finish. An interesting and fairly unique beer. From Sheboygan, the world capital of bratwurst, and this beer would work well with 'em.

Out of a bottle. Pours a dark Amber for an pale. Not much in the nose. The taste has some bittering hops but not a lot of citrus to me. Lots of malt, and it is a lot more roasty than I expected. Feel was nice, with a bit of alcohol esters. Overall just not my wheelhouse for a pale.

A- A little lighter than copper. Perfectly clear. Thick white head. Good rentention, just a touch of lacing.
S- Piney, floral, a touch of citrus. Just a hint of sweet malt.
T- A bit sweeter on the tongue initially than expected. Moves more toward pine and floral in the finish. Just a very faint grapefruit peel like taste I'm getting in the finish as it warms.
M- Medium-full body for an ipa. Medium-low carbonation.
O- A good IPA. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

Another Freebee :D

I poured this beer aggressively to get a bit of ****ING aroma! :D

This pretty little thang has a medium amber-bronze colour and wonderful foamy head of cream.
smells of strawberry shortcake, fresh cut grass, and... Juniper! (its a good thing baby)

Taste... well... let me tell you.. buddy! This is a easy drinker, nothing crazy (sometimes that works for me) good hop complexities and mild but noticed malts.

A good ale, would like a second one... so.... OVERALL darn good!

L: A lively slightly hazed amber pour produces a 1” persistent white foam collar that grips the side of the glass.
S: The nose is not big but includes spice, biscuit, traces of sweet light malts, malt spice, and floral.
T: Fruit, melon, citrus lead to a long, lingering bitter finish. The hop bitterness is medium high. It is not quite harsh but has an asirin or tree bark bitter quality. The malt flavor is clean, very faint caramel and toast. Finishes medium dry. F: Very creamy
O: A refreshing hoppy and bitter tonic.

Pours a clear orange gold color with off-white head. Floral notes, citrus, and grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice citrus note.

Bought as part of a build-your-own-sixer from my local Trig's market. No bottled on date that I can see. Poured right from the fridge into my pint glass.

L: Pours a deep honey amber with about an inch of eggshell head that dissipates pretty quickly but has some nice cling. No visible effervescence.

S: Citrus hop notes in the nose, along with a touch of apricot. There's a bready malt presence there, as well. Not a very assertive bouquet.

T: Some nice citrus rind hop notes right in the front, as well as a bit of pine hops. There's some bread-like malt notes underneath, though the hops are clearly center-stage. The middle sees the hops intensifying in their bitterness, though this section seems pretty smooth with the carbonation. Not much registering for the malts in the middle. The back end is more bitter than I expected. There's a definite resinous quality, as well as a grapefruit rind presence. The bitter hangs on for a good bit in the aftertaste.

F: On the lighter side of medium-bodied, this one feels a touch watery. It's got some nice carbonation (despite the lack of visual proof), and a very fitting bitter finish that doesn't leave a syrupy quality on the palate.

O: I had this one on tap at the Minocqua Brewing Company, and it was much more enjoyable: I have a feeling that I've got a pretty old bottle. That being said, there are some very nice hop flavors that come across in this one. I find myself wishing that the malts were a little more assertive (which is rare for me). Overall, I would return to this one again, if only to try a fresher bottle.

2/5 - Draft at Finley Dunnes (Chicago Lakeview). 3 Sheeps has been served at Finley Dunnes the past few months, and I am really glad it's a standard serving. The beer is very smooth and refreshing to drink. Loved the somewhat bitter taste.

I look forward to finding other 3 Sheep offerings down the road, and will continue to order this IPA when available.

A- Copper-amber hued, one finger offwhite head with an especially nice small bubble effervescence. Good longevity, decent lacing.

S- Resin, floral notes, citrus, a bit of pine. Grainy pale malt. Standard, solid American IPA aromatics showing off what is probably Columbus and/or Cascade.

F- Bitter resin, a slight herbal flavour, mild grapefruit, floral notes, pine. Background is a mild pale malt sweetness evoking caramel and a bit of toffee that kicks in more at the end with the bitter finish, which is a quite bitter resinous, piney one.

M- Medium bodied, solidly carbonated, crisp and refreshing. On the bitter side for the style, so if you like your beers more bitter than juicy, this is the way to go.

O- Very solid IPA that offers a lot of bitterness to go along with a solid malt backbone that showcases west coast hops. It's definitely not a bad IPA and I wouldn't turn it down if offered.

Bready, mango smell, with resin at the finish. Pours caramel with nice foam that dissipates quickly. Thin lacing. Nice, rounded mouth feel and flavor. Carmel and fruit, with a slight brunt sugar. I don't like malty, sweet IPAs but I like this one -- commendable balance.

Pours dark copper with a thin lasting head. A thin sheet of lacing covers the glass.

The smell is of robust pine with citric and tropical fruits mixed in.

The taste is of pine/resin and citric/tropical fruits. It has a firm caramel backing. Smooth and chewy, it finishes with a bitter bite.

I normally don't care for strong caramel in the IPA much, but it works here. Some residual sugars stay on the tongue, almost more like it would in some DIPA's. Overall, it's a piney/fruity/caramelly IPA that is very easy to drink. Nice!

From notes on 3/6/14

Dark golden amber color. Darker then most IPAs. Nice citrus pineapple aroma. Very bitter taste. Lots of citrus flavor. I get pineapple and some grapefruit tastes. For the price, this is an excellent beer.

Had on tap. Nice ipa for late spring/early summer. Has a light and crisp feel in the body that lends itself well to the floral and citrus hop aromas. Little bit malty for the style, but still acceptable. Orange and floral flavors go well with malt, but wish there was a little more bitterness from the hops to balance
