Formerly: Really Cool Waterslides

Waterslides is an ode to a choice we made years ago to throw caution to the wind and pursue a passion. For us it was opening this brewery, but maybe for you it’s finishing that novel, or getting on that stage, or finally asking that coworker out on a real date. Whatever it is, Waterslides is for risk-takers like you. It’s complex and yet accessible, with more body than your typical IPA, and more hops than your typical Wisconsin beer. It’s balanced, drinkable and a reminder to always #ChooseTheWaterslide

Waterslides IPA (American IPA)
Scores:
Look 3.75
Smell 3.5
Taste 3.75
Mouthfeel 4.0
Overall 4.0

Look:
Darker — amber leaning orange. White head with strong retention. Larger bubbles rise and help regenerate the foam.

Aroma:
Pine, grapefruit, hop resin. More traditional West-leaning IPA nose.

Taste:
Opens with orange citrus, moves quickly into grapefruit peel and firm pine bitterness. Slight acidity like grapefruit rind.
Malty backbone supports the hop bite. Finishes clearly bitter but balanced.

Impression:
This one evolved the most during the session. At first it felt aggressive and old-school compared to the juicy pale and hazy. But as the palate adjusted, it became more enjoyable.
As it warms, hop flavor opens up beautifully. If you’ve ever chewed on fresh hops, you’ll recognize that resinous authenticity.
Not for people who dislike bitterness — but very drinkable once your palate adapts.

Another selection from the Memorial Day week trip out to Milwaukee for the ol' 20th reunion at Marquette.

This one follows a predictable opinion about Wisconsin beer: They excel at almost every style, except hoppy. This is another average hoppy product out of the state.

Pours that light caramel like color. Think like one or two SRM lighter than SNPA. 3/4" white head. Appearance is its best attribute. The aroma had a light Tomahawk impression, grapefruit rind, light outdoor weed, pine tree going for it. I still don't know much about Zythos hops which are here, essentially they mimic other existing hops used in hoppy beers, so makes sense it doesn't offer anything beyond CTZ and Cascade: trees, grapefruit etc. . .

The taste has that classic C hop meets light crystal malt profile. Hey, it works if not somewhat dated in its approach that SNPA did 45 years ago. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Its for the most part a classic C hop ipa with classic C malt that hits the normal average strides for such a product.

Waterslides pours a darker amber color, with a small, but long lasting, and lacing head. Grainy and very earthy aromas. Flavor is very earthy, hints of dank, very malt forward, with a bitter finish still. Good body and feel. Overall, very flavorful, but very earthy and maltier/grainier.

Pours a nice amber with a cream colored head with good retention.

Smells very herbal - floral, herbs, resinous pine, with a slight grain bill.

Taste is resinous pine and floral hops flowing into a muted grain backbone.
