Poured from a 750 ML bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a clear dull gold color with a large white head. The aroma is very off-putting, it smells like old carpet. The taste is not better. My first Romanian beer, i hope my second one is better.

Bottle from trip to Missouri. Pours a clear golden color with thin white head. Sweet cereal grains on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes sweet. Just too sweet overall.

Pours an effervescent light gold with 4 fingers of pearl white head. Average head retention & lacing
S: Wet cereal with some wet card board, plus soured apple juice
T: Wet card board, leafy hops, Bartles & James wine cooler sweetness. Sour apple juice, pears, grassyness as this warms along with leafy hops. Finishes slightly soured, with apple juice notes
MF: Light bodied & very carbonated, skews too damn sweet
This is just plain bad. Could be a freshness issue, but no dating on the package, so who knows?

Brewed according to a 19th century recipe from an old Romanian brewery, Josef Ploll Brewery.
Served in a pint glass. Copious foam, have to pour very slow. Big head of white foam, decent retention, remains unbroken for a good while.
Smells skunky and a little metallic right off the bat, ut oh. Slightly sweet apple yeast esters surface as it warms.
Tastes like carbonated well water, some sweet apple and buttered biscuit play over the metallic aftertaste. Fizzles audibly in the mouth... prickly CO2, thin-bodied with a weird sweetness that seems artificial. Not really feeling this.

Out of a bottle this Romanian beer was a clear golden color with a nice amount of rising carbonation. The retention of the off-white collar was pretty good and it left scattered lacing. The aroma was of corn, dry grains, sweet malt and a touch of floral hops. The flavors were actually pretty good for this style. I first tasted caramel malt and sweet malt, a touch of spices, then the corn and booze in the middle followed by a finish of floral hops. As it warmed I also tasted some piney notes in the hops. The mouthfeel was fine, the body medium and the carbonation appropriate. An inexpensive and pretty good example of a Euro Pale Lager and a nice Romanian beer if you’ve never had one.
