GROWLER: 32oz brown glass grower with screw-top filled earlier tonight.
Served cold into stemware. Expectations are above average. Reviewed live as a pumpkin ale per the name.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: About 1 inch wide. White colour. Decent thickness and frothiness. Not real creamy.
BODY: Copper-amber colour. Clean and filtered; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.
Not unique or special looking. Appears carbonated enough.
AROMA: Pumpkin flesh (but not gourd), clove, maybe nutmeg. Spicing seems light for the style.
No overt hops, yeast, off-notes, or booze comes through.
Aromatic intensity is below average.
TASTE: Some nice pumpkin pie spice (clove, light nutmeg, but not allspice or cinnamon), reticent light pumpkin flesh (but not gourd), caramel, light brown sugar (but ill-enough), and brown or amber malts. Seems undermalted; not robust or strong. Nicely put together for what it is, but not perfectly balanced.
Balanced enough, as simple and shallow as it is. Flavour duration and intensity are below average.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Not custom-tailored to the taste, but nicely executed.
OVERALL: Drinkable and enjoyable, but not world-class by any means. It's a nicely executed pumpkin ale, but many other breweries do it much better. I might buy it again, but it's above average at best.
