GROWLER: Filled earlier tonight. Brown glass. Screw top.

Served cold into stemware. Reviewed live as a Kolsch per the name/brewery information.

HEAD: 1.5 inches wide. Off-white colour. Foamy and frothy. Retention is above average - about 5 minutes.

BODY: Golden-copper of average vibrance. No yeast or sediment is visible within.

Not as yellowed as it ought to be for a Kolsch. Filtered, but lacking within the style.

AROMA: Strangely sweet for a Kolsch. Malt profile doesn't seem bright enough for the style. Hop profile is underwhelming and Noble in character. Faint graham cracker. Suggests an odd, wrong-for-the-style brew.

Aromatic intensity is average.

TASTE: Way too sweet for the style, with way too much caramalt and faint graham cracker character. Some Munich and pilsner character. Imbalanced towards sweetness. Depth of flavour is average. Flavour duration and intensity are average.

Not well-balanced; mediocre at best. Not an intricate or subtly executed brew.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, overcarbonated, unrefreshing. Thickness and heft on the palate are out of control for the style.

Doesn't suit the taste particularly well. Fails to elevate the beer as a whole.

OVERALL: Drinkable but underwhelming. Not a beer I'd get again, but a decent brew from an up and coming local brewery. Meh. There's potential here, but it isn't to style by any means.
