Thanks to Jeffo for picking this one up. Same batch from 2014. Served in a Volo Zwanze 2014 glass.
A - Pours with a tan foam that settles to a lingering collar, leaving splotches of lace. Dark brown body with faint translucency at the edges.
S - Roasty, intense coffee, even after over a year of age. Underneath the coffee it's sweeter than your usual Euro stout; more in the De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis vein. Caramel, vanilla, and baker's chocolate all crop up, but are still peripheral to the intense coffee.
T - Taste is a bit more balanced, but still with loads of roasty coffee. Really nice integration, with sweet malts and coffee bitterness working harmoniously. Vanilla and chocolate grow in intensity as it warms. Like a really nice iced coffee with vanilla creamer. No real alcohol at all.
M - Tannic and roasty, as is typical for coffee brews. Medium body, with lower carbonation. Lingering stickiness in the finish, and perhaps a hint of warming by the end of the bottle.
D - Nice brew. I've enjoyed the few Rooie Dop offerings I've had before, and I guess I will need to check out Tupiniquim too. Easily drank a 33cl bottle on my own. I actually appreciate that it clocks in at only 8.6%, as there are way too many double digit ABVs these days.

Imperial stout with Brazilian coffee
APPERANCE: Clear dark brown pour yields a 1+ finger, medium thicker, creamy, very light brown head with great retention. Bistre brown body, transparent, with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a swirly wisp and leaves some sticky lacing.
SMELL: Lots of burnt coffee beans, some roasted aromas, sweet cream and vanilla notes on the nose. Light caramel sweetness there as well, though the roasted coffee and sweet cream are more prevalent. Bold enough and quite nice.
TASTE: Lots of sweet creamy and vanilla up front with a good dose of burnt coffee and roasted flavors through the middle and into the swallow. Flavorful up front for sure. Bold and lingering finish of milky sweetness, vanilla and cream, caramel, roasted malts and a good dose of bitter, burnt coffee beans. Some nice sweetness and candy flavors with a well-balanced burnt and bitter coffee element. Quite nice here as well.
PALATE: Medium-fuller body with medium carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down nice and finishes a touch mouth coating. No heat and a nice amount of bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. It’s a little light in the look, unfortunately, as it’s not quite black and oily like some in the style, but the rest of the experience is top notch. Lots of good aromas and flavors and the Brazilian coffee beans really do come through in a well-balanced and well-measured manner. This could perhaps be toned down a touch in the ABV and then marketed as an American or a Double Stout, but whatever category you want to put it in, it’s a high quality brew. Well done guys! Recommended.
