Update from a 30SEP03 sampling.... Medium-golden, clear, white creamy head...thins but sticks well. Bready malt nose, touch of hop spice. Medium body and medium-smooth tongue. Bready start with full hop flavor...pleasant. Has a floral, spicy touch.

Original review - 27OCT02 - This Hell poured a clear, bright golden color, with a fine, thin white head, and lacing is decent. The nose, in this instance, had a big-time metallic lean to it, overpowering the grassy hops. I've had this bier in a few different places in Rothenburg on earlier trips and hadn't encountered this aroma before. Perhaps they had a bad tap-line at this place. Body was a bit thin, yet it was nice and smooth over the tongue. A light, bready malt flavor stands out, with a smooth, easy-finishing, partly floral hop end. Oddly, there was nothing metallic about the flavor. A nice bier, all-in-all.
