Working on cleaning up the backlog of notes I have. Sample enjoyed at the Keep NH Brewing Fest.

Bottle. Near-black with dense ring and a little island. Strong coffee aroma with some dark chocolate and fig and earth. Sweet chocolatey and earthy medium fig raisin with some cinnamon and herbal in the earthy long finish. Medium-heavy body, fairly rich though not imperial rich slightly oily per style medium-low carb. I'm drinking it fairly cold. It's probably sweeter warm. Better than expected. I don't even like most coffee stouts.

Picked this up at Walmart in a variety pack, mostly because I wanted to try this one, it was promising. I highly doubt it was ever frozen, but, even though I want to like this beer, first impressions are... boozie. Tastes boozie and like it was previously frozen. Smells boozie. Even though it's only a dismal 5.6%, it's reminding me of a completely watered down imperial stout. I'm sober as a judge right now, and semi-hungry at the moment, first beer of the night. Tried giving it a light swirl/mix, same thing. Upon pouring a bit out, looks decent, very dark, looks like it'd maintain a bit of a head. After several smells, getting slightly burnt coffee notes. A bit of metallic taste, like a cheap Polish beer. After a swish, getting some raw green coffee tastes, burnt, unpleasant bitter, booze again. Tongue feel for carbonation is good. Gave it a good gulp, nice carbonation. Got some sweetness with a lot. Sorry but this tastes like a very unpleasant imperial stout without the big flavor and without the big booze, no good taste whatsoever. The more I drink the worse it tastes. Drink it quick! You won't ever want to experience this again. On second thought, bottom of the bottle looked like watered down hot chocolate, eww. VERY POSSIBLE I GOT A DUD or bad batch or first batch?
