This has a classic stout look: very dark, with a big foamy head. The aroma is very roasty. The taste is roasted malts, with very mild poblano. Don't expect hot chile here; poblanos have plenty of flavor but little heat. The body is rather thin for a stout. Overall, it's a tasty stout, but the pepper character is just barely there.

Smokey, stouty, earthy. Great smells of rich purports and smokey stout malts. No heat at all, just the distinct taste, like biting into a meaty chunk of poblano. Goes well with the smooth dark charter of an oatmeal stout. Better than I thought it would be. Will look for this when I want something a little different in the winter.

Had it from a can. Not too much hot chili sting , which is nice. In fact , you actually get some real chili flavor. Wish it had a bit more mouth feel, but this a very enjoyable beer that has a good finish and is not too sweet. Would buy it again.

16 oz can. Pours dark brown with a small creamy tan head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass some.

The aroma is roast malts, smoke and peppers.

The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate, roast, smoke and peppers. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and slightly watery.

Overall, a nice mild smokey pepper stout.

a really nice stout, but as a poblano stout, less successful. rich dark brown color from the appropriately colored dark green tallboy can that just launched. 42 peppers per seven barrels, i don't think is enough. there is a nice roared pepper nose, jus like the farmers market on the weekends, peppery, earthy, hot, fiery, awesome with the bitter barley and chocolate malt and under a frothy oatmeal head that just looks great. i wish that nose cam through to the taste, but it simply doesn't, no heat i am fine with, but if there is pepper flavor in here, its impossibly limited. they could have doubled down on the pepper addition, or at least ramped it up a fair bit, this just doesn't have it. i want pepper! the base stout is brilliant, really well done, the best from big choice to date, but there just isn't enough pepper to make this what it claims to be. dry chalky feel is just right for all of this body, carbonation is just enough too, they have done one heck of a job with this, we just need more peppers!!!
