A crisp, thirst-quenching, and refreshing German-style Ale featuring mellow malt sweetness balanced by a delicate spicy, floral hop profile and smooth, fruity ale yeast. Light-bodied and exceptionally sessionable. This beer won a Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival in the German-Style Koelsch category in 2016.

Pours a golden straw color with a sudsy white head that lingers a bit. The nose is very floral and fruity, with some cereal grain, and that’s where the taste lands as well. The crisp mouthfeel adds to the drinkability. Nice kolsch.

Aroma is malts/pale malts, fruit and almost a hint vanilla ice cream. The flavor is mild fruit, slightly earthy in the middle and a pale malts/mildly bitter hop finish.

The two twelve ounce cans seemed over-carbonated, as white foam erupted from both. The remaining contents of those cans were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. Again, it was overly carbonated and produced far too much foam. So much, there was concern that this might have skunked. But the aroma seemed fine, so after the subsiding of the foam, a careful tasting followed. Considering all the foam, this was fully refrigerated, by the way, so the pours were less than impressive. The brew is the color and transparency of many American Adjunct Lagers. It does smell a little more like a Pilsner than some of those. However, it's a mild fragrance. It tastes like a Pilsner, so initial worries fade quickly, like the foam. But, it doesn't taste like a good Pilsner as it seems a little lacking in flavor. There's only a bit of the Pilsner character that brings both a hoppy note as well as a nutty sweetness. Certainly, it's more like a German Pilsner than the more biting Czech-style. At least this has a body that's fairly close to most. Overall, it's not bad, it's just not very good.

16 oz can into a stange. Slightly hazy pale straw color with a foamy white head that quickly receded to a thin cap. Grainy malt and floral hops on the nose. Grainy, actually slightly gritty malt carries through in the taste. Very crisp and refreshing with some light fruitiness.

12oz can purchased from the fridge as a single for $2. The canned on date is illegible. If it comes from the same lot as the 12-pack that I purchased a couple weeks later, it was canned on 5/23/22 and that would make this beer 11 1/2 weeks old at the time of review.
Look: Very clear. Rich, full gold color. There was a pinky finger of white head that dissipated to almost nothing except for a very fine rim along the glass.
Smell: The aromas are very floral and slightly fruity. My first impression is that this smells kind of like a very floral, sweet apple like Gala or Honeycrisp. Notes of pear also. There is also a nice aroma of a floral honey, and some peppery/spicy/grassy notes, along with a crackery malt.
Taste: It's very crisp, clean, and refreshing. This is infinitely drinkable. Up front, there is a bit of malt sweetness and some of the fruity apple and pear notes. The finish eventually provides a subtle, softly lingering bitterness with peppery highlights. It's simple and very delicious.
Feel: This is light to medium bodied, closer to light than medium. The malt has a nice richness for a 4.7% ABV lager. Very crisp, clean, and refreshing.
Overall: This is just my second Kolsch review, and it is my second Solemn Oath review. Last year, I really enjoyed their Oktoberface.

This is good. Typical Kolsch flavors, feel, smell, look. The flavor profile is on the lite duty side. The beer is clean I didn't notice any off flavors or flaws.

Extremely smooth and refreshing. Much like a well-done pilsner but better in every way. I had it with pizza, and it cut through the grease amazingly. Also great on it own I'm sure :)

Really refreshing and smooth. Maybe they can make the actual beer name legible on their beer can in the future for God's sake. I'm cool with calligraphy but does it have to look like it came from the 2nd century ....B.C. Good beer though.
