Pours cola colored, topped by a finger's worth of khaki foam. Peculiar aroma smells of roasted malt with vaguely tangy undertones.
The taste follows the nose, with roasted malt and bitter chocolate accented by lemongrass and chalky Belgian yeast. Medium body and fairly vigorous carbonation make for a perky mouthfeel.
"Belgian porter" isn't exactly an orthodox style, so I'm not surprised by the quizzical reaction it evokes. It is indeed equal parts Belgian and porter, but coexisting rather than synergizing. An interesting foray into terra incognita, but not one I'm likely to repeat.

My old neighbor from across the street in Oswego gave me a bottle of this. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had earth and molasses tones. The taste is nicely balances between earth coffee and chocolate. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer!
