Cloud dark brown pour with a brown ring, light seeps through in spots. This was a complex but surprisingly not too heavy of an ale. Smell features bourbon, vanilla, rye, coffee, caramel, barley, toffee, soil, and a ton of chocolate. Taste explodes onto the palate with dark depth of the flavors from the smell, then met with robust wood, some hops, molasses, various yeasts, lots of booze, and a dash of ginger. Not sweet, not bitter, but a savory and booze mix of it all. Not a clean beer by any means, in fact the blend is aggressive, but all together it works for me as a strong ale.
