Pours a dark, thick, viscous black color. Two finger tan bubbly head dissipates pretty quickly eventually leaving no residual head.
Aroma has notes of roasted malts, almost charred, some light pine hop notes and some chocolate notes.
Taste follows the nose with those roasted malts dominating the flavor up front. Notes of tobacco ash, chocolate, waft across the palate with piney hops on the back end. Reminds me of an old school American stout - its all malts driving this with generous hopping and no additives. Really nicely done.
Feel is medium to full bodied. Smooth and viscous. Moderate carbonation. Semi-dry finish.
Overall a delicious old school American stout.
