Ah, the joys of The CANQuest (tm)! I was recently exploring the coolers at Country Garden Six-Pack when I spied this gem. I was amused by its labeling: "1 Extra Ounce" since one of the tenets is that the entirety of the CANtents must be CANsumed in order for it to count.
From the 25-fl. oz. CAN: "Malt Beverage with Natural Flavors and Caramel Color".
I Crack!ed open the vent on this massive CAN & signaled the crane into position for the Glug. It CAN be tricky with these big guys since the vent is a little further back than on smaller lids & dribbling is not out of the question. I let it free-run, watching with mild amusement as the finger of roiling, fizzy, foamy, tawny head formed and fell almost as quickly as I poured. 8=O Needless to say, head retention was nil. Color was an unexpected Deep-Amber/Light-Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled like Cola & I was reminded of being a young seaman in New London, CT in the early-to-mid 1980s.
Back then, each state had their own minimum age for alcohol & CT's was either 19 or 20 y/o. There was a laundromat near the ship with a B&G nearby to the lavateria & we would start a load & then start to get loaded. LI Iced Teas were always on special & although I was not big on mixed drinks, a bargain was a bargain …
Looking at this & smelling it really took me back to those salad days. Mouthfeel was thin & watery. OMFG, was this sweet! It really tasted like a Coke/Pepsi knock-off brand, cola, but not well-made. Still, given what they were going for, they really nailed it! The sweetness masked the 8% ABV nicely, making it a really dangerous drink. I was taking it easy & using a water back, but it could be all too easy just to slug it down like pop. 8=O Finish remained sweet & cola-like. It was an interesting trip down memory lane, but a one & done for me. YMMV.

Natty Rush Long Island Lighting is a brewed by Anheuser-Busch, with an ABV of 8.00% This brew pours out of a 25oz can into a pint beer glass. A deep golden almost brown color with a thin white head. The head to this brew, goes away fast. It dose have the look of Long Island Iced Tea, not saying that is a bad thing. There is really thin to Bo lacing to this brew, it doesn't seem to stick well. The smell is rich with sweetness, mixed with coke. It looks an smells like Long Island Iced Tea. So far Natty Rush Long Island Lighting is a nice inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is Bold with flavors. You pick up on a cola mix flavor mixed with alcohol sweetness. There are no other beer notes in this brew. It is hard to pick up on the 8.00% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. Natty Rush Long Island Lighting body is a solid medium. The mouth feel of Natty Rush Long Island Lighting is Bold, Rich , Clean Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I am going to give Natty Rush Long Island Lighting a soild 3 out of 5. I would look this brew up again to change it up from other brews on the market. This brew would go nice on a hot summer day or with lunch. Anheuser-Busch, did a nice job with brew. This is one of the more enjoyable Natty Rush brews on the market.
If you are a fan of Long Island Iced Tea you should look this brew up.
