Collaboration with Against the Grain Brewery

Finga Lickn’ Good started with a “Kentucky Common” – a bourbon inspired mash that contained rye and corn, and also a heaping helping of Belgian Special B crystal malt for added radiance. We then kettle soured the beast. To Oregonian-ize the beer we aged in Oregon pinot barrels. The finished beer is simultaneously tart yet rich, with deep pinot fruit notes, oak and beautiful caramelized sugars. 6.5% ABV

Creamy at its core and carrying a "my old Ketucky home" charm, the brewers of Gigantic Brewing takes a small approach with an ale that borrows what's best about the rustic and earthen Kentucky common ale and cream ale for a lightly tart but richly bready taste.

Finga Lickn' Good ale is a rusty mauve color with a moderate crimson haze. Its frothy cap carries a tarnish sepia while casting a fruity, malty and acidic fragrance. Its early taste is of caramel, candy and cola ahead of the breads and tartness to follow.

As the full breadth of flavors unfold on the middle palate, a host of cherry, grape, plum and apple fruit blossom and do so with the light sticky sweetness of honey and cola. Toasted nuttiness follows with a mild savory flare and a bready grit that hints toward cornbread and cream. Lightly tart in finish, a wine-like taste pulls forth and offers a sense of zinfandel in the beer's closure.

Medium-bodied from start to finish, the ale's rustic, steely caramels are charming yet unrefined. Mild bitterness and moderate sourness keeps the taste malt-centric with a medium-length aftertaste of peanut, wine and cola.
