8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - beats the hell out of the expensive import bombers being peddled in stores around these parts.

This beer appears a mostly clear, medium apricot amber colour, with one thick finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some decent pockmarked limestone wall lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of juicy orange, red grapefruit, and lemon citrus rind, bready and doughy caramel malt, a small hard water flintiness, and further leafy, weedy, and piney green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, some indistinct tropical fruitiness, more muddled domestic citrus peel, simple syrup, and a zingy leafy, grassy, and resinous pine verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly low-key in its innocuous frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with just a touch of hop acridity marring the local surface sheen. It finishes off-dry, the lingering frooty esters keepin' on keepin' on.

Overall - yes, this is indeed a hoppy version of the style, and very robust in its flavouring. Worth checking out, especially if you think pale ales are typically too bland on the lupulin side of things.

This is described as a hoppy pale ale, brewed with oats and hops are Citra, Crystal, and Simcoe. Color is rich amber with abundant white foam in the Orval chalice. Citrus and pine hop flavors. Some lime peel and a moderate bitter aftertaste. Some cracker taste.

Some malty sweetness with a smooth mouthfeel. I"m happy to taste another really good Pale Ale, that's not another hop monster locked in orbit around the red giant IPA. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Central Market - Shoreline. No trace of sediment.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a murky golden brown color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains grassy hops, caramelized malts and citrus.

T: The taste starts out bready with hearty malt character up front that is quickly followed by a strong but not over-powering grassy hops bitterness. There is some caramel and citrus sweetness that provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly hoppy.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral citrusy notes with some malt presence also noticeable. Taste is a mix between some cereal notes with floral citrusy notes and light bitter finish. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation. Nothing earth shattering but well done and quite enjoyable to drink.

22oz bottle purchased from Trader Joe in Salem OR $4.99 Pours a clear amber colour with a huge thick and frothy light cream coloured head. Really strong fresh hoppy bright aromas, Lemon zest, grapefruit and marmalade oranges. Taste similar to the aroma especially the Seville marmalade sweetness/bitterness. Nice easy medium mouthfeel. Good hoppy lighter ale for summer.

Dark amber/light copper in color. Bubbly, tan head that dissipates to a thin film. The aroma is fruity. Mango, peach, and apricot. Hints of caramel malt as well. The flavor is a bit tart. There is a blend of citrus hops and caramel malt in the aftertaste. Fairly well balanced. Medium body, crisp finish. A decent beer overall.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a somewhat fizzy one finger head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and piney hops, a little grassy. Flavor is biscuit malt with light caramel, citrus and grassy hops, orange citrus. Finishes with nice mixed grain biscuit and citrus hops. Medium bodied with active carbonation. I have to say my first sip was a little bit of a let down, probably due to drinking too many big IPAs lately, but the second was great, and the malt body really grew on me as I drank this. A little thin in the middle, but the malt is fairly robust and the hops are refreshing and citrusy. A bit big, dark and robust for the style, but tasty and pleasant. Great finish, especially for the ABV.
