Quarantine day forty four: worked. Ate. Napped. Ate. Ate chocolate. Now here I am with a 500ML bottle next to me & the contents in my glass.

The stout is blacker than the inside of my arm, I assume, with a nose dominated by roast, with touch of chocolate & licorice.

Most Most Premium – Maple Barrel is roastier than a campfire cooked pot roast. Huge roast hitsucks about everything else out of the beer’s profile, leaving…a touch of sweetness? Which might be maple syrup? Should have split this with my wife.

Commanding a premium price & providing a sub-par product leads to a bad review. This is not good, & considering how wonderful Gigantic’s barleywines are, a serious disappointment.

Tar black with a tan collar. Tons of maple, char, wood, bourbon, molasses, and dark chocolate aromas. Taste adds prune, light roast coffee, and leather, not as unified in vision but good. Feel is thinner than one would expect from a brewery called gigantic, booze is present but doesn't warm too much, gets boozier through the sip, ending just kind of stops, no culmination

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a half finger high mocha colored head that died down, leaving a large patch of tan bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of maple are present in the nose along with notes of bourbon.
T: The taste follows the smell and has moderately strong flavors of maple along with notes of bourbon and hints of dark and chocolate malts. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed the combination of maple and bourbon aromas and flavors in this beer. These definitely mellowed out the taste and added complexity. It also did a remarkable job at masking the alcohol from the taste and was quite drinkable considering its strength.
