oak aged saison with brett and pinot noir, really awesome stuff, a little more funky and strong than the galaxy dry hopped edition, and also the bottle conditioning of this one versus the draft of the other one gives this quite a lot of life, a cool mix of flavors, very farmy and complex. the brett seems more intense in this one, really musty and dank, like a wet basement, very yeasty, a little more tart too, maybe some tannins from the grapes here, not overly vinous, but the fruit makes a cool contribution. its got a pretty hazy pour, lively but with quite a lot of sediment, especially towards the bottom of the little bottle, big difference in flavor too in those final sips. lots of wood here, funky and moist, a bit of sweetness from the fruit with some heavier wheat malt character gives it some real body and depth, and a little alcohol pushes through as it warms. i think the refinement isnt quite as high in this one as in the dry hopped one i had at the brewery, but the flavors i think are more mature and complex here, so its hard to pick a favorite between them. carbonation is good, fermentation profile is super weird and developed, and having this next to a glass of really high end oregon pinot noir was a neat experience. i couldnt believe how affordable this bottle was at the brewery too, i should have gotten a couple of them, this is sure to age quite well!
