Brown body with a tan cap. Big toffee, dark fruit, moderate barley like the rest, but huge vinous notes from the pinot fill the nostrils. Taste it is even more dominant, grape outlasts the other dark fruits easily, toffee, a hint of vanilla, decent oak and barley mix in but never truly integrate with the pinot. Feel is boozy and vinous with a massive (couldn't resist) malt and barley base, deceptively smooth yet sticky and heavy. Not my favorite barrel of the series, but others in the group enjoyed it more than I. The wife liked it

Yet another 500ML bottle of Massive! as I work my way down the lineup, this one with a red “Port Wine” label over the cap. Split with the wife.
The pour is murky amber that could be mistaken for murky brown. What little head there is collapses rapidly. The nose is pinot & caramel. That would be a vineyard winner!
Massive! Pinot Aged melds ingredients nicely, much better than reds & stouts. Jolt of pinot washes over the senses followed by a much quieter breaker of caramel. Same ABV as the others in the series but pulls its alcoholic punch…a bit. Still boozy. 250ML of this is about right.
My least favorite of the series to date which still leaves it in the “pretty good beer” category.

#6 of 7 from the 2020 release. Oh my, the vinous notes from Pinot barrel play extraordinarily well with the lusciously burnt caramel malts of the base barleywine. There is a bit of oak and grassy bitterness at the finish. Loving this series, I want it again next year.

A: The beer is hazy, murky brown in color. It poured with a short light beige colored head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of toffee and dark fruits such as raisins and prunes are present in the nose.
T: The beer starts off with malty flavors and finishes with notes of pinot noir from the barrel aging. As the beer begins to warm up the maltiness becomes supplanted by flavors of dark fruits.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Once you let this beer warm up the pinot noir barrel aging nicely complements the underlying barleywine. I really enjoyed the taste of this beer and it was quite drinkable considering its strength as it did a very good jot at masking the alcohol from the taste.
