Look: Pours a lovely burnt orange with copper hues and quickly, a lavish head forms and settles to a silky pillow, leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Crushed pine needles and sap, crushed fir needles, white grapefruit, tangelo, lemon-lime, kumquats, light berries, and bready malt
Taste: Opens up with a sucker punch of straight-up pithy, intense citrus fruit and rind that unpacks quickly and immediately followed by waves of resinous conifer. Pine and fir abound and blend well with the citrus as this thing screams ‘old-school IBU wars’ in its profile. Bready malt tries to hold it together and does but this is a hop bomb through and through. Closes with an intense and sharp bite
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and dry on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. I went blind into this purchase but feel I found a gem as this is a delicious and somewhat old-school drinking WCIPA. The citrus/conifer blend is nice and the big time bite and dry finish are up my alley as well. Worth seeking out if this sort of IPA is your jam
