On draft, pours a dark cola brown, wispy light brown head. Not of activity in the glass. Honestly, I could have thought this was root beer.
The nose is heavy roast, a little nutty and wood, with dark fruit and caramel. Lots of alcohol and brown sugar. The flavor is caramel, some dark fruit, grape, lots of spice, a little wood and pepper. The alcohol does not hide, it smells boozy, and it tastes boozy. It's good, but I think it would be better lower in alcohol, dried out a bit.
