This dark lager is crisp & refreshing, with a toasty, nutty malt richness punctuated by herbal German hop notes (Spalter Select). Subtly nuanced& balanced, They Both Melt has been traditionally lagered for 6 weeks and is naturally carbonated.

Poured a copper-brown body with quick dying offwhite head. Typical aroma of grains and malts along with a dry, almost dirty hoppiness. Smooth, dry, light, emphasis on earthy hoppiness but some malty sweetness adds a little depth, although beer does finish real dry, and beer is worth drying.

Just picked up a bunch of beer from this brewery. Excited to try them, and this is one of my fav styles so we'll see how it goes. No can date
Pours a larger foamy semi dense creamy off-white 1 finger head with moderate retention, and spotty lacing, dark but clear auburn ruby color, nice ruby hue
Nose brings sweet bready malt, some caramel and toffee a bit more than it probably should have but OK, nice toasty grainy biscuity malt, with some bread crust, hint of herbal hop, touch of malt-derived fruit
Taste brings more of the grainy and toasty malt, toasty up front, with some caramelization and toffee notes but not a lot, a bit more of the sweet bread crust, biscuity with some toast and hint of chocolate note, soft lager with a bit of malt-derived fruit and little plum cherry like, drier finish with a little sticky note, more of the sweet toasted malt and mild fruity esters, very light on the hops
Mouth is med bod, soft lager, med fizzy carb
Overall this was a solid beer, well done Munich dunkel, could use a bit more overall hop profile, and little less caramel on the nose, but otherwise quite nice

On tap:
Medium brown body with an off-white head and strong lacing. Nose has a slightly earthy lean to toasted grain, dark nuts, and light mineral notes. There’s a side note of perhaps citrusy hops, but weak enough to not be sure.
I’ll agree with @Lucular on taste, hits the points of a toasted malt brown malt beer, but I’m getting dulled flavors. The hops may be adding enough neutral bitterness to cause it, and there’s a light orange peel note on the closing. Leans a little bolder, heavier, but not greatly so.
Can, 10/2020:
I'd go with a darker brown, but I am likely using a larger glass which will decrease the light getting through. It still has a lovely more beige than off-white head with solid lacing. Nose follows as before with dark bread and a little nuttiness, but there's also a metallic, nearing chemical note mixed in the can. It's not huge, but it is distracting.
Taste of toasted malt, with a bit of dirt and earthen bitterness. There's not much sweetness at first, but it enters slowly as the beer warms. What I get initially is maybe a bit of root starch which brings with it an impression of quite unsweet cola. Eventually a little brown sugar joins, but the sweeter notes are mostly covered by the toasty earthiness. The feel is a bit more full than I expect for the style, and while the carbonation is lively enough, it seems to compete with the extra thickness.
I apparently enjoyed this a little more on tap. This is a still a fair beer, though.

4 oz pour at the brewery. I am a big fan of dunkels and this is a fairly solid one with some toasty/caramel/nutty malt but ultimately not quite enough of it. So, a 4.25 for the actual flavor, but 2.75 for the lack of flavor. Or something like that.

On tap at the brewery. A slightly hazy chestnut brown color with a thick light tan head. Chocolate, toasted bread, and floral hops on the nose. Taste followed with a rich roasty and chocolate flavor balanced nicely with grassy floral bitter hops. Medium bodied and easy drinking.
