Inspired by the strong ales of Britain, Masquerade is robust and refined, with nuanced complexity coaxed out of a 4 month maturation. Malt-driven and full-bodied, this brew shows layers of caramel, berry fruit and dark bread.

On tap:
Hazy amber, orange rust variant, although by the end I had a much more clear copper beer. Head decently thick and slightly sticky fur an 11% beer. Nose is toffee, honey tea, a just a hint of dankness.
Sweet toffee opening isn’t as sticky as the sweetness might indicate, but is fairly full. Little white raisin comes out as the hops counter the opening sweetness. A dark honey flavor comes from this, turning the beer more herbal as the taste lingers without totally losing all its sweeter aspects.
Ends up a little more bitter than other English strong ales/barleywines, but not horribly so, especially with a toffee -to-dark honey thread carrying throughout.
