Hummingbird blasts your palate with bold, hoppy flavors of sweet citrus, grapefruit zest & piney resin. Brewed with Simcoe & Amarillo hops, this West Coast-style IPA was crafted in collaboration with our dear friends at Beer Study (North Carolina).

On tap at Bluejacket in Washington, DC.
This one pours a mostly clear orange/amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells semi-malty, with a some orange, tea, and grapefruit.
I really like most of Bluejacket’s beers, but this missed the mark a little bit for me. It’s a bit too malty – which isn’t completely a deal breaker – but the hop character is not dynamic, bitter, or punchy enough to overcome that unfortunate aspect.
This is light bodied, a little bit too sweet on the palate, without enough crisp bitterness.
I wanted to like this one a bit more than I ended up liking it.
