I never get to this part of Philly much, so having it under the El with trains rumbling by gave it a very, very urban feel. Enter and the place goes deep, a pretty long bar with the rest covered by booths and tables. Service was on point, i ordered a flight covering a range osf styles, no disappointments. Very lively, fun vibe, with the manager coming around to check in.

A nice spot. They make a lot of beer with almost always funny, movie related names. I give them credit for making so many different styles. The taproom left me a little let down. It's no where near as fun as the beer names would suggest. Maybe I hit them on a bad night. Quality stuff, if you come across it. Just not a great taproom experience for me.

Stopped here after a trip to Fermentery Form. Evil Genius has always been a place I wanted to check out, I typically look forward to what beer name/movie quote they'll put out next. The place itself is in a downtown area of Philly not really the nicest of places but once you're inside the building it's nice enough that you don't really think about the outside. There was a pretty good crowd there for a Saturday as I shuffled in with my one friend. We got some food and ordered quite a few beers off the tap list. The place seems pretty chill for the most part, some retro 80's/90's decor scattered around which was pretty nostalgic to me having grown up during that time. Overall it's a cool place and I wouldn't mind going back one day.

Located right on Front Street beneath the elevated Market-Frankfrod line in West Kensington is Evil Genius. It's a fairly large space, and yet it gets packed, and it has a homey, semi-antique-industrial-modern look to it (concrete beams, sky lights, exposed brick, reclaimed wood, etc.). Just as you enter there's a ramp that takes you up to the bar area to order and there's a really interesting "chandelier" hanging there. It's broken up into smaller areas although it's really pretty much one open space. They offer 11 beers on tap, and light foods (nachos, avocado toast, chili, tacos, grilled cheese, etc.). As an added bonus they're not far from Fermentery Form, Saint Benjamin, and a lot of other places on Frankford Ave.
